Road races for this afternoon

THE HUGO Chambers Memorial 10K and one-mile road races will take place this afternoon.

Both events will end at the grounds of Jamaica College (JC), Old Hope Road.

The one-mile race for children, which will take runners from Papine into JC, will start at 2:00 p.m., while the 10K will to take runners along Old Hope Road, Hope Road, Mona Road, through UWI and Papine into JC. That run start at 4:00 p.m.

Victorious

Meanwhile, at yesterday's Denise Thwaites 5K Run/Walk event, G.C. Foster College's Kenroy Benjamin and Karlene Blagrove emerged victorious.

Benjamin won the male section in 16 minutes, 58 seconds ahead of teammates Dellano Brown (17:09) and Eldon Miller (17:10).

Ricardo Edwards of Brown's Hall (17:26) and Andrew Gutzmore of Ebony (17:29) rounded out the top five finishers.

In the female section, Blagrove took the top spot in 21 minutes, 25 seconds ahead of Sabrina Furman (22:25) and Sherlene White (22:33).
