Manley look to walk all over Bridgeport
published: Wednesday | October 24, 2007

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

NORMAN MANLEY have their eyes set on passing defending champions Bridgeport to lead Group B when they tackle St. George's in ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup action at Tinson Pen today.

Although they currently trail Bridgeport (22) by two points, Norman Manley are favourites to top the group as they will still have a game in hand against Penwood while Bridgeport will play their final fixture of the season tomorrow.

St. George's, a quality team which had the misfortune of being dropped in arguably the toughest zone in the competition, mathematically have a faint pulse which should make today's encounter an interesting one.

Banking on hopes

George's would however have to beat Manley today, beat Penwood in their final game and then hope for the extremely unlikely result of Norman Manley losing to Penwood.

Over in Group C, Calabar (23), who are currently second to Wolmer's (28), will look to begin their march towards the top of the zone when they travel to Campion.

After today, the Red Hills-road team will still have two games remaining. In Group A, Tivoli (16) will be intent on giving themselves the best possible chance of making it to the second round when they take on Innswood.

However, the west Kingston team is on the outside looking in, as Waterford (17), who are behind group leaders Jamaica College (21), will host St Jago. JC will close out their fixtures when they travel to St Mary.
