The Editor, Sir:The Munro College Old Boys' Association wishes to add its congratulations to Kingston College for its outstanding results in the 2007 CAPE and CSEC examinations.
Our Old Boys' Association also wishes to recognise and salute the Headmaster, Mr. Branford Gayle, and the staff of Munro College for producing one of the school's best academic performances ever in this year's CAPE and CSEC examinations.
Of the 51 upper sixth formers that sat the CAPE exams, 94 per cent passed two subjects plus Caribbean studies or communications studies. So outstanding were the results that John Clarke was awarded the Jamaica Scholarship (male), Damion Harvey and Brenton Barnett were awarded Government of Jamaica Exhibition Scholarships and Kersen Stephens was awarded the UWI Open Scholarship. In addition, six other students were awarded scholar-ships to U.S. universities. This means that almost 20 per cent of the class won scholarships.
Ninety-four fifth formers sat the CSEC exams and 91.5 per cent of the class passed five or more subjects. One student, Ricardo Palmer, sat 12 subjects and received 10 distinctions and two credits.
The school's old boys and supporters are proud that Munro College consistently attains excellence in academics and sports while producing fine young gentlemen.
I am, etc.,
