CSEC ACHIEVERS - Deneil Walker
published: Wednesday | October 10, 2007

Discipline, motivation and focus all paid off

Deneil Walker, from Morant Bay High School, aced eight subjects in the recent Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examination. This was not a surprise to anyone because of his eagle's eye for detail, his high academic standard and his humility.

"It was OK, I accepted it, I can deal with it," quipped Deneil as he discussed his results with The Gleaner.

His discipline to study, his intrinsic motivation and focus have pivoted him to excel and there is no doubt that he will bring these traits to his new course of study at Excelsior Community College, Mountain View campus. He will pursue a pre-university science programme to prepare himself for pharmacology. As a caring student he gave the following tips for those preparing for 2008 CSEC.

1. Avoid waiting until the last minute to study.

2. Don't join study groups unless you are certain the members are there to study.

3. Practise breathing exercises prior to starting your examinations.

4. Don't cram before examinations.
