Taxis can be scary for the uninitiated. - File

Taxi rides can be dangerous

Dear Robert,

I just finished reading your article in The Gleaner and could not help laughing at your demise (my apologies). I too have had similar experiences. For example, I would ask beforehand if there was air conditioning in the car and the driver would say yes, then I drive the entire time melting away because after take-off the driver would tell me that it's not working.

I have been treated to the multiple cellphones going off, and one ride just stopped short of killing a few pedestrians. But if Jamaica is bad, Trinidad is worse, by far. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Regards,

A.C.

Serious but funny

Dear Robert,

I read a lot of your articles and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed that piece about the taxi driver. It was great! I have been living outside of Jamaica for a while and this article had me holding my sides with laughter. Thanks for a dose of home.

M.W.

You made my day

Dear Robert,

I'm sure my co-workers are thinking I'm totally 'gone', sitting here killing myself with laughter as I'm picturing your taxi ride from Spanish Town to Kingston. You certainly make my Thursdays. I look forward to reading your article every week.

Keep up the good work.

Welcomed trip

Dear Robert,

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
