Cellphone ban
Part of a child's education is learning personal discipline. This includes waiting until break time to eat lunch; waiting until after school hours to go home; and waiting until the class is over to use the phone. Those parents who take issue with these maxims are only showing the rest of us the extent of their own lack of training.
Personally, I see no need for cellphones in schools. In emergency situations, a student can always get permission to use the school phone to call home. Mr. Holness needs to be firm enough to place a nationwide ban on cellphones in class. This might save the life of a future minister of education.

Bloody hands
I feel compelled to write to say exactly how I feel about the killing of the four-month-old baby in Rockfort along with the nine-year-old and the women and men. As a mother who lost her son in an unexplainable car accident, every death especially that of a child at any age really tears to the core of my heart.
I am asking myself what kind of a heart can a human being have to do such a cowardly and evil act. I would like the killer or killers to know that they might think they have gotten away with this brutal act, but they will not. Blood is on their hands and they will pay dearly.

Wasting water
I am calling on the National Water Commission to take a good look at the amount of treated water that goes to waste each day due to broken water mains. I expect a broken water main to be treated urgently as an important situation affecting the customers of the NWC.

Untidy plaza
Permit me to express my disgust at the bad condition of an area in Mandeville, Manchester, a business location termed 'Leaders Plaza' which has not been maintained for years. It has now become worse with heavy rains regularly especially since Hurricane Dean.
The potholes are now deep pools of water posing difficulty for drivers and pedestrians. It is truly a disgrace when at least two major utilities have business offices in that plaza and there are doctors' offices, a pharmacy, and other prominent businesses.
