Champions Harbour View and the surprise performer of last season, Reno, both continued their conservative start to the new season following a 1-1 draw at STETHS, albeit in controversial circumstances.
Following a see-saw-like first- half played in a constant drizzle on a typically grassy STETHS field, Reno's talented teenage defender Obrien 'Beckam' Woodbine committed a cardinal error - belying his inexperience at this level, by opting to 'plat' a ball he should have quickly cleared and was robbed by Gregg Taylor, who promptly fired home in the 48th minute to stun the home fans.
Spectators
And then in time added on - just when it seemed like Reno would lose the impressive unbeaten record they developed playing away from their customary home at Frome - their newly promoted captain Kendrick Quarrie sent the home spectators wild by finding an equaliser via a 20-yard free kick, past Harbour View's Dwayne Miller.
That goal and, more emphatically, the referee's whistle to end the game 45 seconds later, immediately elicited furore from the Harbour View camp.
Even from the touchlines, both coach Lenworth Hyde and his assistant, Harold Taylor, along with manager Ann-Marie Massey, could be heard voicing outrage at referee Kevin Morrison for prolonging the game an additional seven minutes.
