Bridgeport tipped to beat struggling Ardenne
published: Monday | October 1, 2007

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

Defending champions Bridgeport will be favourites to maintain their outstanding form when they take on a struggling Ardenne in the ISSA\\Pepsi\\Digicel Manning Cup Group D game at 3:30 p.m. at Ferdie Neita Park today.

The title holders looked in awesome form as they raged rampantly in a 13-0 victory over a hapless Haile Selassie on Friday, even missing a couple of goals in the encounter.

Ardenne should prove to be a much tougher team, but will be hard pressed to keep the defending champs, who have played impressive, attacking football in their last couple of games, at bay.

With the battle on to stay one step ahead in the competitive group - a heated one - leaders Norman Manley should lose little ground when they host Penwood. In another game in the group, Dunoon will take on Haile Selassie.

In Group C, Calabar and Wolmer's continue their see-saw battle to dominate the division. Hoping to secure a second straight win, Wolmer's will travel to play St. Catherine, while Calabar will play host to Meadowbrook. In another Group C fixture, Kingston Technical will challenge Edith Dalton James.

Over in a wide-open Group F, unbeaten STATHS will be intent on staying that way when they travel to Vauxhall High. Looking to stay close to the leaders, Excelsior will also be hoping for three points when they go up against Trench Town. And in another encounter, Jonathan Grant will look to stay in the race when they tackle Cumberland.
