Harbour View back on top with 2-1 win
published: Wednesday | September 26, 2007

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Harbour View moved back to the top of the Sherwin Williams Colour Scape Women's Premier League after a 2-1 over Waterhouse at the Harbour View Mini-Stadium on Saturday.

On the heels of a tight victory over their opponents in the women's Knockout final last week, the Stars of the East once again managed to muster up enough fortitude to sneak past their opponents.

Anastacia McIntyre gave the Cup holders the lead but an ambitious Waterhouse pulled level through Kimesha Wilmott in the 47th minute.

However, taking responsibility from the spot, veteran player Nicola Bell restored the lead for Harbour View with a 69th-minute penalty.

8-0 trashing

In the day's other games, a hat-trick by national player Rochelle Bryan saw Portmore Strikers routed Olympic Gardens 8-0 at Racing Oval.

At the Barbican field, a Nadola Chase brace led hosts Barbican to a 4-2 victory over struggling Maverley Hughenden. Janiene Dennis and Jodi-Ann McGregor also had a goal each in the encounter for the victors.

Harbour View joined Barbican at the top of the league with 10 points but lead on goal difference. Barbican gained a share of the lead after their 1-0 win over Portmore Strikers midweek. Portmore and Waterhouse are next with nine points apiece, while a struggling Olympic Gardens and Maverley Hughenden are fifth and sixth, respectively, with three points each.

Scoreless

Promoted Meadhaven remain scoreless at the bottom of the table.

In Saturday's A League game, Reno and Trelawny played their way to a 1-1 draw.

There will be no action in the women's Premier League today but there will be two games in the Super League where Seaview Gardens will play Upliftment at Seaview and Trelawny will host Arnett Gardens at the Elliston Wakeland Centre. Both games begin at 3:30 p.m.
