Fathers make a difference
published: Tuesday | September 25, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

Thank you for covering such an important topic and taking it seriously. Mary Clarke is right - a broad integrated approach is needed to help parents (BOTH parents) invest from early in their children, particularly emotionally. Men - and women - who think that only financial provision is required of fathers are so, so wrong.

Men who care can make all the difference in helping boys make it through all the challenges of growing up in difficult times, instead of ending up in the prison system. Research and common sense tell us this.

I am, etc.,

JANET BROWN
