It was a fabulous mix of seasoned and upcoming artistes who performed at the Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring's 'An Evening Of Elegance', at the Stella Maris Church Hall, last Sunday.

The show is one of the major fund-raising events for the Kiwanians for their annual charity programmes.

Courtney Johnson gave the event a spiritual blessing with Blessed Assurance and was confident when he performed I Can See Clearly Now. Trombonist Everton Pessoa used his lungs in a different form as he began his performance by signing. He had the audience celebrating with Nice Time, then Wind Beneath My Wings, before telling the ladies about his Love Overdue. After a trip down memory lane with Cupid and Spanish Harlem, he began his duet with the tool of his trade (the trombone) in Over The Rainbow. Upcoming artiste and gym instructor Angel B went insane on Amy Winehouse's Rehab.

She made way for the multi-talented teenager Diallo Cunningham. He sang Lean On Me, then showed his versatility with the drums to a very thrilled audience.

no disappointments

DiMario McDowell, the ladies' charmer, did not disappoint, and had them asking for more. Jacob Miller's Once Upon A Time, but, on a sad note, he paid tribute to the late Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti with My Way.

Band Of Gold's Love Songs Are Back Again was well received, as couples got close and sang along.

After the intermission, 11-year-old dancing dynamo Kashaine Brackenridge energised the audience with his moves similar to a young Michael Jackson. She was followed by New York-based R&B singer Tara Harrison. She made an immediate impact with the audience. A Mariah Carey sound and lookalike, the 22-year-old showed the depth of her voice in a flawless rendition of Dolly Parton's I'll Always Love You.

She later returned to the stage to perform Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's I'll Be There with Dwight Richards.

Gem Myers received an encore and standing ovation while Dwight Richards was his usually energetic self. At the end of the evening, everyone was very satisfied.
