Civilian killed, cop injured

A police corporal assigned to the Scenes of Crime Division was shot and injured by gunmen on Wednesday night.

According to the police, about 8:20 p.m., the corporal was transacting business in Clock Tower Plaza in Half-Way Tree, St. Andrew, when he was approached by three men.

The men pulled guns and opened fire, hitting the corporal three times before escaping.

The injured policeman was taken to hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.

The police are also investigating the murder of a man in the Kingston 13 area on Wednesday night. Dead is Andrew Lothian, 27, of a Central Avenue address.
