Phang defends good name
published: Thursday | September 13, 2007

Popular businessman, George Phang, on Tuesday said his home has been bombarded with telephone calls, ever since the police released the name of Newton Horne, alias 'George Phang', who they say is being sought in connection with multiple counts of shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Mr. Horne's name appeared in last Friday's Gleaner through a police report which said 'George Phang' was wanted by the police. The Phang in question is from Manchester.

"People have been calling to find out if I was the George Phang who is really wanted," said Mr. Phang, who was once in charge of the Arnett Gardens Football Club.

In the past, gunmen have made several attempts on the life of the former Arnett Gardens strongman and he wants people to know that he is not wanted, nor is he in any form of trouble with the law.
