'Cats' walk at Pulse's Caribbean Model Search
published: Tuesday | September 11, 2007

Krista Henry, Staff Reporter

Three lucky models impressed on the runway on Friday night at the Hilton hotel at Pulse's Caribbean Model Search.

Pulse found their new Petite Model, Jamaican Male Face and the Jamaican Fashion Model among a host of model hopefuls.

This year, emerging models had to strut their stuff in front of a capacity audience which screamed for their favourites. Male models were not to be outdone and raised the temperature to sweltering levels.

Also doing their first runway-type show were the 18 contestants from the TV show, Caribbean Model Search. After the initial display of all the contestants, it was time for the fashion segment, and models demonstrated their interpretation of fashion.

Collections on display

The first collection on display was from J'Adore, which featured numerous flowing dresses with floral patterns and lots of beiges and browns. One of the models took quite a fall to the horror of the audience but recovered smoothly with a light laugh, posed and continued walking. True to their name, Shimmer had silky and shiny clothes from the upscale boutique.

Minka's renowned crochet skills featured skirts, pants and tops. Keneea Linton was stylish with a wide use of colours from orange to sky blue and zebra prints. Other designers included the African themed Mutamba and Zaid.

Etana made her debut on the runway looking bright in a blue skirt and top. The crowd obviously appreciated her as she sang Don't Forget and Wrong Address.

The much-anticipated supermodel reunion in which Pulse's former stars returned to the runway lived up to expectations. Still looking good were Jheanelle Azan, Justine Willoughby, Angella Neil, Hector Lincoln Wynter, Romae Gordon, Kimberly Mais an Laing.

As the grand finale for the night, the models made their last walk as the winners were announced. In the petite models category, the second runner-up was Melissa Martin, the first runner-up was Nastassia Collins and the winner was Nsombie Watson. In male face of Jamaica the second runner-up was Ocean Grant, the first runner-up was Sherlock Ricketts and the winner was Alvin Larman. For Jamaican Fashion Model the second runner up was Nastassia Hall, the first runner up was Sedene Blake and the winner was Latasha Coleman.
