NOTE-WORTHY: Accepting changes
published: Tuesday | September 11, 2007

Accepting changes

What surprises me the most is that a lot of people just won't accept changes. The fact that General Secretary Donald Buchanan is still in dreamland goes to show that he is one of those who is so used to sittingon his butt and getting paid for it when real work needs to be done. He is like a fish out of water. The Bible clearly states that we all have to accept changes.

On the other hand, we have others who take the cowardly approach by coming up with every inconceivable excuse in the event that it will make them regain their seats. You guys are out, wake up and smell the coffee.

The elected ones have a job to do, stay off their backs. Build unity and not strife. Give Mr. Golding a chance to do his job. If you guys don't have anything good to say, then say nothing at all. Remember that united we stand divided we fall.

Railway revival

I have been reading about the revitalising of the railway from Spanish Town to Kingston, but tourists coming to Jamaica would prefer that the lines be restored from Montego Bay to Kingston. Tourists always complain of the exorbitant fees the taxis charge to get to and from Montego Bay to Kingston.

We would like to sight see the island on our own, using public transportation, and many of my tourist friends had always enjoyed the trip from Montego Bay to Kingston.

It is so marvellous and breathtaking to take in all that scenery, the mountains, and the lovely manicured lawns, rivers, etc. So we are asking that the new Government give this some greater consideration.

Why waste the time doing Spanish Town to Kingston? We want our railway back ... and it's time. Minibuses are dangerous and always so very packed.

Bus park danger

At the Eastwood Park Road area of Half-Way Tree where the Spanish Town buses park, thugs are lurking at nights between where Mr. Spice used to be and where the buses are parked to go to Spanish Town.

In that area, the lighting is very poor giving thieves the opportunity to grab cellphones and bags.

Someone close to me was robbed of a cellphone recently and that has happened to other people.

The JUTC buses do not run on schedule and that allows the thugs to operate. Commuters who use these buses should be careful. The police need to take some action urgently.
