Carib Model Search 2007 climaxes tonight
published: Friday | September 7, 2007

Kimanee Wilson

After weeks of perfecting trademark walks and developing signature looks, lean young hopefuls will take aim at modelling's top prizes as Pulse gets ready to crown new talent at the finals of the Caribbean Model Search tonight at the Hilton Kingston hotel.

Pulse's Caribbean Model Search (CMS) appeals to thousands of young Caribbean nationals who aspire to be models.

This year, the Search has been expanded to the United Kingdom and parts of the United States and Canada. For the Jamaican leg of CMS 2007, hundreds of entrants showed up at Pulse, as well as the islandwide searches, and now 18 semi-finalists have been selected for the CMS reality TV series, while over 70 contestants will compete for the four titles up for grabs at the live Friday finals.

As part of Pulse's commitment to producing stellar entertainment, tonight's live event will see for the first time, the assembly of the history-making, record-breaking, trailblazing supermodels who personify the strength, tenacity and evolution of the Caribbean fashion industry. The 'original' Pulse supermodels, the first to strut their stuff on the world stage, have come together from various parts of the world for the first time ever in a 'supermodels reunion'.

Veterans and hopefuls

These original Pulse supermodels includ Laing, Kimberely Mais, Jheanell Azan, Angela Neil, Romae Gordon, Juline Samuels and Lincoln Wynter, who have all enjoyed unprecedented success in international markets and seek to share their experiences with this year's CMS contestants.

Undoubtedly inspired and eager to taste some of the success enjoyed by international Pulse stars such as Jaunel Mckenzie, Carla Campbell, Sunna Gottshalk, Nicole Gray, Kimanee Wilson and Oraine Barrett, the 18 who will vie for the TV show title are Sasha-Lee Atkinson (5' 10"), Alecia Brown (5' 10"), Toisan Cazley (5' 11"), Natalie-Ann Edwards (5' 5"), Latoya Grant (5' 11"), Fallon Harris (5' 9"), Heidi-Ann Jamieson (5' 9"), Racquel Jones (5' 9"), Tasha-Lee Lewis (6' 0"), Saskia McIntyre (5' 10"), Patasha McLean (5' 9"), Yaneik Myers (5' 11"), Rochelle Notice (6' 0"), Latoya Reid (5' 9"), Danisha Scott (5' 9"), Kayann Walker (6' 0"), Khurstein Williams (5' 8") and Shernette Williams (5' 10").

Not to be outshone by their TV counterparts, the wealth of talent which remains will participate in the live finals competing for the titles Jamaica Fashion Model, Male Face of Jamaica and Petite Jamaica Fashion Model. Rocking designs come from Lubica, Mutamba, Keneea Linton, Poshe, Mushroom Swimwear, Minka, Mosiah, J'Adore Boutique, Shimmer and Kevin Pound.

Rehearsal is over for the bold 2007 entrants as the stage is set for tonight's unveiling of the new faces of Caribbean fashion.

Hitting the airways

And even as CMS Live comes to a close, fans of fashion and beauty can stay tuned to CVM TV for more, as the new season of CMS TV has hit the airways. The show is scheduled to air over an additional six weeks, bringing all the glamour, drama and excitement of the competition as the final 12 girls do battle in a series of challenges to prove to the judges and the public they have the 'X factor' and are to be taken seriously as supermodel potentials. The public will not only be viewers, but also active participants in the show as they get a chance to text in to keep their favourites in the competition, while getting an opportunity to win fabulous prizes.

There is a live performance by the powerful Wrong Address and Roots songstress Etana.

CMS 2007 is produced by Pulse in association with bMobile, Homestyle Juices, Dark & Lovely and Ting. Media partners are SHE Caribbean, Splash Jamaica, Ocean Style magazine, Zip 103 FM, CVM TV, Hype TV and The Gleaner.
