The Gleaner took to the streets of the Corporate Area yesterday to get the opinions of a few Jamaicans on the race.

Winston Williams: I don't give up on Asafa still. The whole pressure a Jamaica and everything just get to him. Him trainer need fi change dem programme, dem need fi work pon him mental drive. Mi feel bad but a just so, a bronze is still a world medal.

Cecil Hilton: Is just a one race still, and a so sports go. Yuh can't win all the time. Him will come back.

Kelly Duncan: I wasn't surprised and am not disappointed. I expected it, the same thing happen in the Olympics. Him crack under pressure, him just not ready for that kind of competition. ... I don't expect an Olympic gold from him.

Roy Dixon: Him just pull up still, a dat happen. Mi disappointed 'cause mi did expect the gold, but a so it go. Is a mental thing, but mi naw give up on him. Him still good.

Dwight Hilton: Kinda feel disappointed, but the problem is just that him lack mental toughness.

He's just not ready mentally. Right now him can't run the rounds and then give a good performance in a big meet. But him young still, him have whole heap a years left.
