With outsiders such as ATTITUDE at 56-1 and ALL FIRED UP at 13-1 derailing exotic bets at muddy Caymanas Park last Saturday, both the Pick-9 and Super-6 offer handsome carryovers.
The Pick-9 boasts a carryover of $4.89 million and with heavy betting anticipated, indications are it will offer a payout in excess of $6 million.
The Super-6, on the other hand, has a carryover of $616,213.50. If that wasn't enough, there is a Hi-five carryover of $272,213.50 to tomorrow's seventh race, the Rhoel Rhoden Memorial Cup feature for maiden two-year-olds over 1100 metres to be contested by 11 youngsters.
Three-cornered tussle
The Pick-9 will embrace races three to 11; the Super-6 from race six to 11. We look at the Super-6 which gets under way with a $315,000-$285,000 claiming race over 1100 metres with eight declared.
It will more than likely come down to a three-cornered tussle involving hat-trick seeker WAGONIST, TASSY WHIP and NUMERO UNO.
WAGONIST is definitely the form horse in the line-up, having won four of his last five races. He failed by half a length to catch the subsequently disqualified winner SEE DA BREEZE over the straight on July 28 only to be awarded the race in the Stewards' Room.
WAGONIST, who has been dropped in class, has most to fear from another down-in-class opponent NUMERO UNO, while TASSY'S WHIP, who was behind him in fifth on July 28, is poised to get closer in a race of this nature.
The aforementioned Rhoel Rhoden Memorial Cup is next on the card and if exercise reports are anything to go by, then the two-year-old debutante MALAVITA will be unsaddled in the winners' enclosure.
Burning up the track
Trained by Richard Azan, this bay colt by Pat N Jac out of Magic Butterfly has been burning up the track at exercise, galloping three furlongs in a brisk 34.3 on Wednesday, October 8. He followed up with a smart 59.2 out of the gate on Monday morning, the first four in 46.2.
MALAVITA, the mount of Richie Mitchell, could be something special and should win at the expense of Wayne DaCosta's THUNDER STORM, who caught the eye when finishing second to I'M MAGIC on his July 7 debut.
MITAKA, who reverts to the ideal trip on this occasion, is tipped to resume winning ways in the eighth race over the straight five course, a race in which DOMINADOR, MELINDA-GATA, LIGHT MY FIRE and ECSTASY should ensure he is extended.
MITAKA scored easily over 1500 metres on June 16 and was far from disgraced when finishing sixth (made most) to WILD GLITZ over 1400 metres in non-winners of three on June 23. He reports well trained and is weighted to topple this field with 51.5 kg.
The ninth race for maiden three-year-olds should resolve itself into a straight fight between JJ'S RED ROCKET and the Donovan Bruce-trained PER-FECT STEP, who finished third (injured then) to some good horses, MARK TO MARKET and PSYCHEDELIC, over the straight on his debut last October.
PERFECT STEP has trained fairly well and despite the lengthy absence, should return with a bang.
The last two races should see Saturday's runaway winner PRINCE TERRON and the well-trained ASKAWOMAN taking top honours. Their respective dangers are recent winner TAKE FIVE in the 10th and speedy ALNASKRA in the 11th over the straight five course.

The 5-2 favourite NASATOL is pushed out by top apprentice Omar Walker to win the eighth race over 1200 metres for open allowance horses at Caymanas Park last Saturday, finishing ahead of stable companion FREE FALL. Both were saddled by Robert Darby, Sr., who posted three winners on the card.
