Nembhard appeals extradition
published: Friday | August 17, 2007

St. Ann businessman Norris 'Deedo' Nembhard, who is wanted in the United States to face charges of conspiracy to export cocaine and marijuana, has filed an appeal against a Full Court ruling last month.

The court had dismissed a motion in which Nembhard and five other men were seeking to have their extradition orders set aside.

The other men who are facing conspiracy charges along with Nembhard have also filed appeals.

They are police Corporal Herbert Henry, Colombian barber Luis Miguel Arias and Jamaicans Robroy Williams, also called 'Spy', Glenford Williams and Vivian Dalley.

In custody since 2004

The men have been in custody since April 2004.

They are wanted in the U.S. to face charges for conspiracy to export cocaine and marijuana to that country between 1998 and 2004.

They were arrested as part of a major international crackdown on drug trafficking among the Jamaican, U.S., British and Colombian governments.

They are challenging the documents on which they were ordered extradited on the basis that they are not authentic.

Nembhard, 53, is one of two Jamaicans designated by U.S. President George W. Bush, as a drug kingpin.

Montego Bay businessman Leebert Ramcharan has also been designated a drug kingpin. Ramcharan and Montego Bay businessman Donovan 'Plucky' Williams were extradited this year to the U.S. to face drug-related charges.
