Son of murdered couple arrested
published: Friday | August 17, 2007

WESTERN BUREAU:

The son of the couple who was murdered at their home at Seavie in Flankers, St. James, on July 29, has been taken into custody for the wounding of a man in the area that same day.

The injured man, Roy Forbes, who was shot at least five times, has regained consciousness and is to provide police with critical information that could crack the case.

Attacked

Forbes, alias 'Paw Yow,' is a 35-year-old member of the Overseas Work Programme residing at Pele Drive in Flankers. He was attacked less than two hours after Cecil 'Jimmy' Spence, 49, and his wife, Pauline 'Yvonne' Spence, 43, were reportedly murdered by men armed with AK-47 rifles

The couple's son and another man have been detained in connection with Forbes' attempted murder. They have not yet been charged, as investigators are awaiting statements from witnesses, as well as a statement from the injured man.

Investigators believe the Spences were murdered in an act of revenge for Forbes' shooting.

The suspects were linked to Forbes' shooting since the day he was shot, as witnesses gave account that they were seen running from the scene. Forbes was scheduled to leave for Massachusetts four hours prior to his being shot at his gate while returning from the Dancehall Queen show in Montego Bay.
