A history of course changers
published: Wednesday | August 8, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

Mr. Ken Jones' article printed in your Sunday publication entitled 'Politicians who changed course' has certainly enlightened my darkness, and I hope it has done the same for the many Jamaicans who thought that only a few politicians jump ship when it suited them. I must confess that I found the article rather insightful and replete with political history. It says to us that nothing is absurd about changing course.

Going around in circles

Life is sometimes like a merry-go-round and sometimes we just cannot take going around in circles any more and so we stop, think and change our direction. So are you saying that if I change course because of philosophical differences I cannot be trusted? I think not. I believe that we must not be so loyal to a person, organisation, or thing that we are unable to change our direction, to do other wise is tantamount to being cultic. As human beings we are all blessed with minds of our own (I hope) and are created with the capacity to think and make sound logical decisions. Hence if a JLP or PNP member sees it fit to jump ship because of ideological differences so be it. So if we believe the jumping of ships will end after August 27 think again. Mr. Ken Jones thanks for opening our eyes to all those course changers.

I am, etc.,
