Robert Bailey, Freelance WriterThe Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Under-15 final between Harbour View and Waterhouse was postponed yesterday because Meadhaven United have lodged a protest against Waterhouse, claiming that they had used an ineligible player in their semi-final game.
Stewart Stephenson, president of KSAFA, has confirmed that a protest has been lodged and it prevented the final from being played.
"One of the teams in the semi-finals have lodged a protest, stating that a player has played for two clubs, whether he had played in two confederations and I think that is the issue right now," said Stephenson.
David Hunt, coach of Meadhaven United, said they lodged a protest and he is still awaiting a response from KSAFA.
"We have lodged a protest and the game has been postponed pending the hearing of the protest," said Hunt, who is also coach of Calabar High School, when contacted by The Gleaner yesterday.
AWAITING KSAFA LETTER
"We are now waiting for a letter from (KSAFA). We should have received that letter yesterday (Saturday)."
He added: "It is not any private thing because the process is taking place right now so I don't want to make any statement until the process is completed, but after the process is completed, then we will make it public."
However, Felix Porter, manager of Waterhouse F.C., said the issue has been solved and his team is waiting for the final to be played.
"Meadhaven have lodged a protest claiming that we used an ineligible player and as a result the final could not be played today (Sunday)," said Porter, who is also general secretary for the club.
"The KSAFA committee have met and the process was thrown out so I am waiting to play the final because I have got the all-clear that Meadhaven United's protest wasn't valid," said Porter.
