Correctional Service resumes normality
published: Monday | July 23, 2007

The Correctional Service will go back to normality based on an agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Planning and bodies representing correctional officers.

The issue concerning Special Extraordinary Allowance Claim for those correctional officers who are held over from the day shift to the early shift to carry out security duties and special assignments, recently lead to disruptions in some correctional institutions.

Following a meeting of all the stakeholders, which included the University and Allied Workers Union (UAWU), Jamaica Federation of Corrections (JAFEDCO) and Senior Uniformed Officers Association (SUOA), an agreement was reached.
