Can we win with the JPS?
published: Monday | July 16, 2007

A member of the Jamaica Public Service maintenance crew works on a defunct street light on Hope Road in St. Andrew. - file

The Editor, Sir:

If you pay your bill, you have no light. If you don't pay your bill, they come to disconnect you. They run these nice ads in the press, but give you the worst service. Will anyone like to start a public service company? Let's see how fast JPS takes to give you light and how slow they take to cut you off it this happens. Not to mention, getting them on the phone. Have you tried? This is a task by itself.

Competition would be a great thing. Will we ever have another light and power company?

JPS caused Jamaica grief the other day with their power outages. Could we do anything? When will JPS get our power right and when will persons stand up to this giant?

Mr. Lee Chin is buying out companies. Maybe he should buy the Jamaica Public Service and then that would be a great start in the right direction, as whatever he does, he seems to do it well.

I am, etc.,

PETER SHOUCAIR
