Newnham and Facey share lead
published: Friday | July 13, 2007

JAMAICA'S JONATHON Newnham and Ian Facey were tied for the lead in the boys' 13 and under category after two rounds at the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships in Antigua.

Newnham and Facey both shot 80s on the second day to share the lead with Barbados' Warren Bynoe on 161.

Wesley Brown of Runaway Bay was also performing well in the boys' 16-17 section and was tied for fourth after shooting a second-round 80.

Started well

According to team manager Leiza Blakeley, the other boys started well, but fell behind after playing some poor shots.

Vittoria Marley's 87 was enough to put her in third place in the girls' 14-15 category.

After two rounds, the Jamaican team was in sixth place and just two points off fifth, despite the fact that all the other teams had competitors in all categories while the Jamaican contingent was only represented in five of the six categories.

Blakeley said she was hoping for at least four individual trophies at the end of the competition.
