
Contestants in the Miss Jamaica World Western pageant get ready for the finals of the competition to be held July 7 at Golf Veiw Hotel, Mandeville.The contest is a lead-up to the Miss Jamaica World 2007 pageant which will be held on Saturday, August 1 at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel. Spartan Health Club is announcing the selection process to select Jamaica's representative to the 2007 Miss World contest. A panel of judges comprising mainly past queens and grooming experts will then select a group of entrants based on the photographs and entry forms received to appear before them.
It will then be from this group appearance that the 16 finalists to contest the 2007 pageant will be selected.
The finalists will be presented to the public on Saturday, July 14 at the Sovereign Centre, Liguanea, at which time they will parade in swimwear and sportswear.
The traditional sashing of contestants by sponsors assigned through a game of chance will take place at this venue for the first time.
This first appearance will be followed by an exciting package of events and visits to scenic locations and dignitaries.
Undergo intensive training
The finalists are also due to undergo intensive training in grooming, stage presentation, speech and physical conditioning.
The pageant finals will be staged on Saturday, August 18 at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
Confirmed sponsors for the 2007 Miss Jamaica World pageant are Jergens, Soft Sheen-Carson, Ting, Supreme Ventures Limited, Air Jamaica, Kosmo Tours, Maybelline, Uzuri International and Xtras. Media sponsors are TVJ, RE-TV, The Gleaner and CbeanMedia TV.
For the 2007 event, prospective contestants are being directed to submit entry forms with good-quality photographs to Spartan Health Club, 9 Lady Musgrave Road, Kingston 5, or by email to mickeyspartan@cwjamaica.com.
Miss Jamaica World will depart Jamaica for Sanya, China, on November 1 to compete in the 2007 Miss World contest, the finals of which will be staged on Saturday, December 1.
