The shooting sparked massive demonstrations by the residents of Tower Hill who claimed the man, yet to be identified by the police, but who is known to the MP as Peter Dobson, a labourer of 37 Calladium Crescent, was murdered by the policemen.
Police reports say a joint police military operation was carried out in the Tower Hill area of Olympic Gardens. During the exercise, members of the police party entered the house and found an AK-47 rifle with four rounds of ammunition. They say while inside the house, a male occupant reportedly disarmed one of the police men and was shot by another lawman.
Holness is questioning this version of events, arguing the size of the house makes it impossible to believe the man would have challenged the police party. He says this killing raises suspicion as it is the fifth police killing in less than a year in the community. "It seems to be a standing order in the police force that they kill people when they go on operations."
