The Business Initiatve Directors (BID) 2007 award is the latest to grace the burgeoning cabinet at Jencare Skin Farm. And founders Jennifer and Lloyd Samuda were in New York to collect the impressive trophy late last month, at the New York Marriott Marquis hotel. It was presided over by José E. Prieto, president and CEO of BID. Also in attendance were personalities from the diplomatic corps and business world of the United States of America.

Jencare was among 53 countries from around the world to receive this award for achievements in quality and excellence, and the famous day spa got the Quality Summit Award in the Diamond Category. The report on the company states: "In recognition of commitment to quality, leadership, technology and innovation, Jencare Skin Farm Company Limited represents success for Jamaica in the business world."

Among the other international companies getting awards were: KIA Motors of South Korea; SAFCO - IBB of Saudi Arabia; Samson of Russia; Jermuk Mineral Water Factory of Armenia; Gambia Ports Authority of Gambia; IRISL Group inIran; Indian Oil Corporation of India and Fibre Optic and Telecommunication Inc. of Korea.

Speaking to The Gleaner, Mrs. Samuda said she was honoured to receive such a prestigious award, considering the vast number of other international companies that have also reveived it. "It means that over the years, our insistence on making skin care products of the highest quality made good sense. However, we could not have done it without the vibrant and dedicated team at our Jamaican headquarters and overseas locations."

Prieto said, "The awarded companies are symbols of commitment to leadership, technology and innovation which make them models for other companies and their sectors."

This marks the 21st International Quality Summit Award Convention, and BID has made its presence known in 173 countries worldwide. It has created a firm ground for the implementation of an integral quality process through the technology procedures of QC100 Total Quality Management.
