Glenn Guimond and his wife Heather cut a cake with a map of Jamaica at his farewell reception, held at Red Bones Blues Cafe. - Colin Hamilton/Freelance PhotographerNashauna Drummond, Acting Lifestyle Coordinator
Everyone concurred in their own way that they were going to miss him, but no tears were shed. Instead, they celebrated at Red Bones on Braemar Avenue in Kingston as they said goodbye to public affairs officer of the United States Embassy, Glenn Guimond. On Thursday they celebrated the time they had spent together and all they had achieved in the three years that he had been posted in Jamaica.
But Glenn said he will miss Calabash Annual Literary Festival, Jake's, Red Bones (his favourite restaurant), the Jamaican people and working with the various non-government organisations he will never forget them. As a career diplomat he is used to saying goodbye. He has served in Manila, Papua, New Guinea and the Czech Republic.
Many of his associates who have become his friends describe him as very down to earth. But most of all, they described him as someone who has a real passion for what he did.Among those who came out to say goodbye to Glenn and his wife Heather were:
Carole Reid, Dr. Errol Holmes, Diana McCaulay, Donald Foster, Professor Dalip Ragoobirsingh, Dr. Blossom O'Meally-Nelson, Mr. Leon Rose, Justice Marlene Malahoo Forte, Jean Lowrie-Chin, Kathy-Ann Pyke and Dennis Hickey.
