WITH A general election coming up (we hope) sometime soon, the parties to raise funds for the various campaigns are on in earnest.
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) threw an energetic little party in Acadia last Friday and despite the political overtones, it was the kind of shindig anybody who likes a good time could attend. Due to the threat of rain the function was moved indoors, undoing all the work of the decorators. But it hardly seemed to matter as guests took up every nook and cranny of the spacious residence and even formed a little disco dance floor. And there was plenty of reason to dance as the music from DJ Bobby Wong was non-stop.
Unfortunately, Leader of the Opposition Bruce Golding could not make it as he got held up in Montego Bay but other party bigwigs turned up, including Karl Samuda, Audley Shaw and James Robertson. From the beginning, we were told that the food was todie for and of that there was no doubt. Lamb chops, pork, pasta and skewered chicken were just some of the mouth-watering dishes.
Guests included C. Lloyd Allen, Percy Hussey, Tom Tavares-Finson and wife Rose, Tom's brother William Tavares-Finson and his wife Sandy, JLP stalwart Douglas Vaz, Stephanie Scott, Sophia MaxBrown, Col. Trevor MacMillan, Robert Russell, Robert and Carmela Azan-Richards, Saleem Lazarus, Michael Ammar Jr., Robert MacMillan, Andrew Desnoes, James and Charlene Robertson, Rupert Bent and Cindy Breakspeare, Peter Crouch, Andrew Phillips and Rajiv Bakshi.

After literally dancing her shoes off, Amber Stewart chats with the equally energetic James Robertson.

Daryl. Vaz thought this would be the perfect picture. He stands with the hostess, Amber Stewart (left), and his wife Ann-Marie.

The tantalising two, Karen Matthews (left) and Rochelle James, were looking quite lovely at the JLP shindig.
