Prophecies, high fashion and more
published: Friday | June 8, 2007

Former Prime Minister P.J. Patterson was bowled over with laughter time after time as Dr. Blossom O'Meally-Nelson, who was 'Madda Phinness' for the night, made her many prophecies and jokes pointed at the nation's politicians and lawmen. Or when Cordel Green presented himself as a candidate for the leader of both the People's National Party and the Jamaica Labour Party.

But Patterson was not the only one in stitches, as Governor-General Professor Kenneth Hall and his lovely wife Rheima were observed laughing helplessly themselves.

The concert in its seventh staging, held at the National Indoor Sports Centre, was a night filled with various characters, prophecies and high fashion.

Kingston's CEOs, politicians, medical practitioners and creative executives took their acts to the stage, often making themselves the butt of many jokes.

From election fever, to a beauty pageant, dance numbers, to various musical performances, the audience was fully entertained.

Thunderous applause

Performances by Justice Roy Anderson, the reigning top cop Lenroy Edwards, Rising Stars judge, Clyde McKenzie, UWI lecturers Winston de la Haye and Dr. Sandra Brown, Jacqueline DaCosta and Charmaine Limonius received thunderous applause from the audience.

The fashion show, featuring many leading ladies, was the evening's crowning moment.

Models included Ambassador Madge Barrett, former commissioner of customs, Alison Moore, Dr. Kingsley 'Ragashanti' Stewart, Eleanor Jones, MP Verna Parchment, St. Ann, Winston de la Haye, lecturer at the UWI, Christine Steele, Jacqueline DaCosta, Maynard McIntosh, Nevine Heaven, and Minister of Tourism, Entertainment and Culture, Aloun Assamba.
