The Editor, Sir:
As a Jamaican, I strongly believe there is hope for our country. However, this brighter future does not only rest in the hands of the Government (whoever it will be) but in us, the citizens.
As a young citizen the issues to me are many but, most important, I think both Portia Simpson Miller and Bruce Golding must look at crime, underemployment, and the increasing Jamaican debt.
Instead I have high respect for both, they are caught up in political campaigning, with Portia cursing the media and Bruce talking about increasing everyone's wages, etc. In the end, I strongly hope that the electorate exercise their duty and vote with Jamaica's future in mind; vote for the issues. You don't have do this for yourself, do this for those you will leave behind, children like me (the future generation).
I am, etc.,
