Moore hints at bowling changes

LEEDS, England (CMC):

WEST INDIES coach David Moore hinted that there could be changes to the bowling attack in particular and also the batting line-up for the third Test against England, starting on June 7 at Manchester.

West Indies sunk to their heaviest defeat in Tests on Monday, when England won the rain-affected second Test at Headingley by an innings and 237 runs.

"We've been looking at it from the first Test," Moore said after the match.

"We're going to try and assess whom we think are the best bowlers to take us through every Test match. Over the last few games, the three that we took into this game have been doing the job for us.

"In the Test series in Pakistan they did a reasonable job for us, throughout the World Cup they did a reasonable job so we had confidence in them.

"At the end of every game, you assess where your players are at and who is going to contribute to give us the best chance to win the game, so there will be questions asked on both the batting and bowling side."

Dismissed

West Indies were dismissed for totals of 146 and 141 in the Test, but Moore still has faith in the batsmen.

"I've seen them bat and bat very well during Test matches," he said. "I've got faith in all our batters, it's just that we need to be more consistent.

"I haven't lost any faith in any of our batters but I need to get them more consistent with their batting and that will come from hard work, practice, and commitment to the task."

Swing bowler Ryan Sidebottom exploited the conditions to snare eight wickets in the match, but Moore does not believe the bats-men in his side are incapable of playing swing bowling.

"The ball swung butwe played four poor shots in the first innings, and a number of poor shots in the second innings which really had nothing to do with the swinging ball," he said.

"It had more to do with poor shot selection. We just didn't select our shots well enough on occasion and that led to losing wickets at the wrong times."

The third Test begins four days after the West Indies complete a tour-match against an MCC XI which starts on Friday at Chester-le-Street.
