Venus 'A' and UWI 'A' copped the respective male and female titles at the Jamaica Volleyball Association (JAVA) National Championships on the weekend.

Venus 'A', a seasoned team, turned back the challenge of arch rivals and Westmoreland-based Vikings 'A' by three sets to two to take the male division one championship in a close match, while UWI 'A' got spiked by Viqueens 'A' - three sets to one - which won the female division one crown.

MOSA won the division two male title with a comfortable three sets to one triumph over Titans, while Wolmer's Pirates blanked G.C. Foster three sets to zero to win the division two female crown.

UWI defeated the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) two sets to zero in the division one male third place play-off and Venus 'A' took third place in the division one female category with a two sets to zero victory over MOSA. Vikings 'B' and the JDF had walk-overs in the male and female third place play-offs, respectively, as their opponents G.C. Foster and Old Harbour failed to show.
