Bandstand flagI am a bit perturbed about the significance of the colours of the Irish flag being draped across the recently refurbished Hope Gardens bandstand.
I would imagine that the colours of the Jamaican flag would have been more appropriate given the fact that the Digicel Foundation was established on account of the tremendous success which Digicel achieved in Jamaica as a result of the overwhelming support of the Jamaican people.
It somehow seems to belie the foundation's vision of helping to create stronger Jamaican communities. The stated vision of the foundation articulates its support for projects in Jamaica that will inspire positive energy in young people - positive energy for Jamaica I hope.

Sex workersI have but one query for Novlet Dougherty Reid, executive director at Jamaica Aids Support, in her rebuke of the security forces for their recent detention of sex workers.
Madam, whatever your arguments in favour of arresting the increase of HIV/AIDS infection, can you tell me if prostitution is now legal in Jamaica? I am now properly confused.

People timeI cringe and get vex every time I hear the Prime Minister say, 'Time for the people of Jamaica' or 'Jamaica time now'.
After 18 years in power and is just now the PNP realise that it's time for the people of Jamaica!
So whose time was it for all those 18 years? Someone should tell Portia that it does not sound good.
P.J. should because his stewardship is being highlighted for what it was - a glorious pork barrel for PNP people.
But as Jamaicans we have come to expect so little from politicians. So when some people hear Portia talk they believe that is their time now.
They do not stop to look to see that she is surrounded by the same old, tired, mostly fat, greedy PNP people. Yes, it's time for the people of Jamaica . Not for the PNP.
