St. Elizabeth continued their impressive streak when they defeated Lucas by 81 runs as the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Super Cup third round continued at Nelson Oval yesterday.

After securing first innings points on Saturday, St. Elizabeth, resuming on 57 for two, made 217-4 declared, with batsmen Shawn Findlay, who had a knock of 77 and Howard Powell who scored 45 not out, being thetop batsmen.

In reply, Lucas, who were dismissed for 87 in their first innings, made 221 all out, which saw Maurice Clarke blast his way to 95 runs with 15 fours, while Junior McKenzie chipped in with 33. For St. Elizabeth, Wayne Simpson was a one-man wrecking crew with the ball as he snatched six for 98, while Howard Powell grabbed two for 44. Simpson had an overall 11-wicket tally for the game, having bagged five for 25 in Saturday's first innings.

At Sabina Park: Melbourne, led by an impressive 92 not out from skipper Carlton Baugh Jr. which included 13 fours and two sixes, wrestled away first innings points from hosts Kingston when they made 244 all out in reply to Kingston's 196.

In their second innings, Kingston offered very little resistance with the bat, managing only 135 all out, which saw bowler Audley Sampson who came in at nine, top score with 30. Sheldon Smith took four for 42 for Melbourne, while Abado Bryan grabbed three for 16.

With at least an hour of light left and only 88 runs to get, the door seemed ajar for Melbourne to go for an outright win, but fast bowler Jowayne Robinson quickly put an end to that notion. Robinson, who finished with three for 12, dismissed number two batsman Damion Henry for a duck, before having both Donovan Pagon (2) and Andre McCarthy (7) caught by wicket-keeper, Chadwick Walton. At the close of play Melbourne were 26 for four.

At UP Park Camp: The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) secured first innings points when they bowled out Westmoreland - who chased their first day total of 217 - for 167 runs. Ewan Andrews top scored with 54 for Westmoreland, while Mark Gray with five for 27 and Warren Medwinter two for 28 did most of the damage with the ball for the army men.

In their second innings, the JDF made 185 for seven declared with Chacon Chambers (60) top scoring. In reply, Westmoreland were 86 for five before bad light ended play.

At Kirvine: Manchester managed to secure first innings points when they scuttled out Trelawny for 97 runs. When rain stopped play on Saturday, Manchester were 103-1, with play not resuming until 2:15 today. Trelawny, sent in to bat, were unable to make the total. Lorenzo Ingram top scored for Trelwany with 21 runs, while Donovan Sinclair who had 4-23 and Andre Dwyer who took 4-40 dominated the bowling for Manchester.

AT CHEDWIN PARK: Rain again frustrated homesters St. Catherine Cricket Club and Kensing-ton, washing out play for the second consecutive day.
