Alpha, Molynes for A League final

Molynes United A and Alpha will contest next Saturday's finals of the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) Supreme Ventures Division A League, following semi-finals victories over Hampshire A and Ebony Strikers respectively on Thursday night at the Leila Robinson Courts.

Molynes United defeated Hampshire A 51-40 and Alpha beat Ebony Strikers 32-31.

Meanwhile, Friendship and Jetsetters will meet in this year's Western Union C League final. In the semi-finals, Friendship whipped Grants Pen Archers 37-17 and Jetsetters C defeated Omega B 23-20.

The first half between Molynes United and Hampshire was keenly contested with the latter leading 24-16 at half-time.

Turnovers

Hampshire improved their defence in the third quarter, which resulted in a number of turnovers by Molynes United, as they cut the deficit to three points for a 33-30 margin at the end of the third period.

However, Molynes United, led by former national Under-16 representative Christina Salmon (39 goals from 42 attempts), lift their game in the fourth period to coast home for a comfortable eight-point victory. Salmon received good support from Odette Harris (12 goals from 18 tries).

Top goal shooters

Tara Wilson (31 goals from 41) and Marcia Johnson (nine from 11 tries) were the top goal shooters for Hampshire.

Meanwhile, action continues in the JNA Berger Paints Super League today with the unbeaten Jamalco, who are the defending champions, facing Arnett Gardens,and Waulgrovians A tackling Ravens A. Both games start at 5:00 p.m.

Jamalco lead the standings with 22 points, with Tivoli A in second place on 21. However, Jamalco have a game in hand. Waulgrovians are third on 19 points, one points ahead of Windalco on 18.
