  • 20-over-a-side cricket

    The Digicel Business House 20-over-a-side knockout competition continues today with a full slate of matches, starting at noon.

    Life of Jamaica face Jamaica Broilers at Jascisera Park, Carib Cement Company face Digicel at Lucas, Windalco entertain Jamalco at Port Esquivel, Cable and Wireless oppose Nestle at Chalmers Avenue and hosts National Water Commission take on St. Ann Bauxite.

  • St Ann Bauxite, JPS showdown

    The 2007 Business House table tennis competition continues this afternoon with St. Ann Bauxite hosting Jamaica Public Service (JPS) at Kaiser Sports Club at 2:30 p.m.

    In Friday's matches, St Ann Bauxite nipped visitors Cable & Wireless 3-2 at Kaiser Sports Club, and hosts BOJ pipped Windalco the same scoreline at Nethersole Place in men's action.

    JUTC I lead Group One with six points and are followed by BoJ (four) and Windalco (two).

    St. Ann Bauxite are on top in Group Two with nine points, ahead of Cable & Wireless (eight), JPS(seven) and JUTC II (four). The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

    Jide Lewis won two matches for BoJ against Windalco, beating Marlon Ranger and George Hyman by 3-1 scores while Glenroy Williams outlasted Ranger 3-2 for BoJ's third victory. Hyman clipped Williams 3-2 and Justin Allen crushed Dave Jonas 3-0, for Windalco's two wins.

    Andrew Lawrence whipped Franz Arnold Sr. 3-0, Courtney Dunkley outplayed Brian Newman 3-1 and Richard Thomas thrashed Arnold 3-0, for St. Ann Bauxite's three wins against C&W, whose two consolation wins came from Robert Gabay. He defeated Thomas 3-1 and Lawrence 3-0.

  • Football kicks off

    The 2007 Business House football competition kicked off yesterday with a opening ceremony and dress parade at Cable & Wireless playing field. Ten teams are in this year's Division One competition with Water Commission the defending champions. Ten teams will also compete in Division Two, up from eight the previous year, with University of Technology (UTech) and Wisynco being the new teams.

  • Basketball set to tip off

    The 2007 Business House basketball competition will tip off on May 19 with an opening ceremony and dress parade at the National Stadium courts.

    The competition will start on May 26. All matches will be played on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

    Twenty-nine teams have entered this year's competition, up from 21 the previous season. Bar To Go are the defending champions. The new teams are Accent Marketing, Asylum, Bank of Jamaica, E-Services, Jamaica National Building Society, Mega Mart, National Land Agency and Police Sports Council.

    The winners of the competition, along with selected category winners, will be recognised at an awards ceremony at the end of the season.
