PEGASUS HOTEL were crowned kings of the corporate court when they pounded rivals Liguanea Club 73-47 in the Gore Homes National Team Tennis League at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre recently.In singles action, Adam Harris got the ball rolling for Pegasus when he defeated top junior Kristopher Martin 6-3 in the first rubber. Alan McNab continued the trend by beating Matthew Rodrigues 6-3.
Pegasus also got another win from Barry Hazel who defeated Mivkel Riley 6-2, while Shaneka Knight and Sasha Hanna were awarded automatic points with walkover victories.
Pegasus's David Shirley and Dax Vernon played the longest singles match which ran nearly an hour with Liguanea's Vernon eventually emerging the winner 7-6, 8-6 in a tiebreaker.
Dwayne Pagon scored another singles victory for Liguanea when he defeated Mark Chin 6-0. Pegasus won five of the seven singles rubbers.
In doubles action, Liguanea Club put up a much better showing, winning three of the six rubbers played. Liguanea's Martin and Rodrigues slipped by Mark Chin and Alan McNab 7-6 while Pagon and Vernon paired to get the better of Harris and Andrew Lowe in a 6-3 victory.
The team of Audrey Marchand and Myrna Lowe also registered a victory when they turned back Kamila Barrette and Norma-Lee Davis 6-3.
For Pegasus, Shaneka Knight and Imega Breeze-McNab teamed up to see off Judith Zadie and Lily Kong 6-3. Undel Williams and David Shirley beat Richard Lee and partner Rene Phillips 6-1. In mixed doubles play, Williams and Hanna combined for a 6-3 win over Kong and Phillips.
