Bullet Train fancied

Wayne DaCosta ... conditions BULLET TRAIN.

Orville Clarke, Freelance Writer

Tomorrow being Lotto Classic Day at Caymanas Park, a feast of racing is in store for punters. The mammoth 13-race programme, which gets under way at 11:45 a.m., features the 67th running of the Lotto Classic for the Governor's Cup over 2000 metres, this confined to native bred three-year-olds. It is the final prep leading into the June 2 Digicel Jamaica Derby and offers a total purse of $2.25 million.

Five of the 13 races, including the season's first two-year-old race for the Lotto Dash Trophy and the $1 million Lotto Sprint (grade one) over 1100 metres, are sponsored by Supreme Ventures Limited. The lottery company has contributed a total of $1,050,000 to purses for the major races.

Meanwhile, the Pick-9 offers a carryover of $1 million, while the Super-6 starts anew with the guaranteed minimum of $500,000. There are two Super-6s on the card, the first embracing races one to six, the second from eight to 13. We take a brief look at the second Super-6 which gets under way with the Lotto Millionaire Sprint (overnight allowance) over the straight five course to be contested by seven starters, including the speedy and consistent BULLET TRAIN, who gets the nod on the strength of his good second to DOUBLE BOW over the course on March 24.

RAMPAGE, having romped the Lady Geeta Trophy over 1200 metres recently, gets the nod over old rivals CLOCK WORK and MUSICAL MAESTRO in the 9th (Lotto Sprint), while LITTLERICHGIRL is preferred to HINDU KUSH in the 10th for maiden three-year-olds. The Lotto Classic should resolve itself into a straight fight between BLUE MAGIC and MUCHO GUSTO. And the same is true between last year's Derby winner RANSOM MAN and QUEEN OF MY HEART in the 13th and final race.
