Spanish Town, St. Catherine:

TEACHERS FROM the Hayes Primary and Junior High School, in Clarendon, were on Wednesday showered with some 75 gift packages and tokens as Sangster's Book Stores showed its appreciation for the efforts of the nation's educators on Teachers' Day.

During the Teachers' Day brunch, at the Bridge Palm Hotel in Toll Gate, Clarendon, Yolande Fullwood, sales and marketing manager at Sangster's, thanked the teachers for being supportive of the bookstores overthe years.

Ms. Fullwood told the gathering that teachers were indeed special and that they should continue to mould the minds of the nation's children.

"I know that each of you has impacted internally on the minds of some children, as I can still remember my grade-six teacher, Ms. Smith, (and) how she impacted my life even today," Ms. Fullwood said.

During the function, the teachers expressed their appreciation forthe gesture.

According to Gladstone Bryan, who has been teaching at the schoolfor the past 37 years, it was indeed a privilege to be remembered on Teachers' Day and it was wonderful that Sangster's had "come on-board".

"All through the years it has been my love for teaching that has kept me going and I have dedicated my life to Hayes Primary," Mr. Bryan said.

A native of Clarendon and Hayes in particularly, he said Teachers' Day was indeed a very special day for the school and the nation at large.
