Teen girls on murder charge granted bail
published: Friday | May 11, 2007

The two teenage girls charged in connection with the murder of Steve Harvey, coordinator at the AIDS Support Unit, were granted bail yesterday when they appeared in the Home Circuit Court.

Senior Puisne Judge, Marva McIntosh, granted them bail in the sum of $150,000 each with one or two sureties. They are to report to the police three times per week, surrender their travel documents and must be home during the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily.

Defence lawyer Peter Champagnie, made the bail application when the case was mentioned yesterday.

Tried along with three men

They are to return to court on July 4 when they will be tried along with three men for Harvey's murder.

The men are labourers André West, Dwayne Owens and Ryan Wilson. One of the three men is also charged jointly with several other men for the murder of 28-year-old financial analyst Jaimie Lue. A trial date is to be set in that case.
