SAVANNA-LA-MAR:THE FINAL of the P.J. Patterson Football Competition in eastern Westmoreland came to an exciting end on Sunday when Darliston came from behind to win 3-1 and deny Petersville a hold on the coveted trophy and $60,000.
Having gone down to a similar defeat to Darliston earlier in the competition, Petersville had to settle for $30,000 and the second-place trophy.
After the game at the newly constructed Maud McLeod field, the attention was shifted to the school grounds where a brief presentation ceremony was conducted. The competition's top goalkeeper was Courtney Windroff from Castl while David Waite of Darliston was named the top defender.
The other individual prize - top goalscorer - went to David Williams also from Darliston.
The two sectional team prizes were won by Petersville and Castl for most disciplined and most outstanding sides respectively.
Among the dignitaries present at the final were State Minister in the Ministry of Education and Youth, Senator Noel Monteith, Member of Parliament for eastern Westmore-land, Luther Buchanan, Councillor for the Darliston division, Trevor Jamieson, and past mayor of Savanna-la-Mar, Ralph Anglin.
