Spurs, Cavs take lead
published: Tuesday | May 8, 2007

PHOENIX (AP):

Tim Duncan had 33 points and 16 rebounds - eight offensive - and Tony Parker added 32 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 111-106 victory Sunday over the Phoenix Suns in the opening game of their second-round National Basketball Association play-off series.

Steve Nash scored 31 for Phoenix but missed a crucial 45 seconds in the final minute because of a bloody cut on his nose, the result of a head-on collision with Parker with 2:53 to play. Michael Finley added 19 points for San Antonio which, with the victory, have home court advantage the rest of the series.

In Cleveland, LeBron James overcame a cold and scored 21 points, leading the Cavaliers past the Nets 81-77 in the first game of their quarter-final series.
