Kingston capture JTA trophy
published: Tuesday | May 8, 2007

Richard Morais, Gleaner Writer

DISCOVERY BAY, St. Ann:

Kingston defeated Trelawny to capture the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) Errol Miller 20/20 cricket competition at the Kaiser Sports Club in St. Ann on Friday.

Having been sent in, Kingston made 169 for five off its 20 overs. When Trelawny replied, they were restricted to 111 for five in their allotted 20 overs, as Kingston registered a five-wicket win.

Kevin Murray's 59, including seven fours and a six, and Whiley Jervis, 24, were the main run-getters for Kingston. Damion Parchment was the best of the Trelawny bowlers, taking two for 36 off four overs.

In their turn at the crease, Trelawny struggled as its main resistance came from Richard Hemmings who made 23, 16 of which came from four boundaries. Xavier Gilbertt's two for 23 and Marcus Stewart two for 27 off four overs each, represented the best bowling figures for the Kingston players.
