Prisoners whose cases were set for mention in the Home Circuit Court on Friday were more than an hour late for court.
It was the second time this week that prisoners turned up late.
Last Monday, proceedings in the Home Circuit Court were held up for more than an hour after the sole prisoner truck transporting prisoners in the Corporate Area broke down.
Justice Paulette Williams, who was presiding in court Friday, said she wanted an official explanation from the inspector in charge of the court as to why court was starting after 11:00 a.m.
Inspector Winston Walker told the court that the prisoner truck had to make more than one trip because there were more than 120 prisoners scheduled for court Friday. He also explained that it took time to process the prisoners when they were taken to court.
"They are spending money to find out what is the problem in the justice system. Perhaps they should supply money to provide some of the basic things we need," the judge remarked.
