Prime Minister of Jamaica in Florida for speech at alma mater

Simpson Miller

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller left the island yesterday morning for Miami, Florida, where she was invited to deliver the commencement address at the Union Institute and University yesterday evening.

Mrs.Simpson Miller graduated from the university in 1997 with a bachelor's degree and was awarded an honorary doctorate by the institution in 2001.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to return to the island tomorrow. During her absence, Robert Pickersgill, Minister of Housing, Transport, Water and Works, will be in charge of the Government.
