Four female students of the Marcus Garvey Technical High School in St. Ann's Bay were yesterday charged with unlawful wounding after they reportedly injured three other female students at the institution, during an incident there on Wednesday.
The police are seeking the whereabouts of another female student who they say will also be charged.
The charges arose from a street brawl in the town of St. Ann's Bay on Wednesday afternoon involving two alleged gangs of female students from the school.
The police reported that during the dispute, one of the alleged gangs attacked the other with knives and scissors and during the clash, three of the students received stab wounds.
The police had to intervene to bring the dispute under control.
The three injured students were treated at the St. Ann's Bay Hospital and released while the police apprehended four of their attackers.
Reports are that the two alleged gangs, which comprise students whose ages range between 14 and 16 years, have been feuding for some time and were actually engaged in a clash at the school earlier this year.
The Gleaner was unable the ascertain the reasons surrounding the dispute between the two sets of students and school officials have refused to comment on the matter.
