Denvo 'DJ Denvo' Thombs is host of Sunday Morning Solid Gold from10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and also Retro Wednesday Star Scape from 9:00 p.m. to midnight on FAME FM.
"My heart beats to the sound of music, music, music. Computer graphics, my second love, keeps me busy and on my toes. Love a good challenge, the colour green and life itself," Thombs said.
Gleaner : What is your dream job?
DJ Denvo: I would say I am doing what I like right now, but I would want to take it a step further and get my hands in a little bit of production work in order for it to be my dream job.
G: How did you get started in the media?
D: Won Heineken Green Synergy in 2004 did an internship with FAME as a part of the prize package.
G: What is your best moment working in the media?
D: My best moment was when I was asked to work Sunday Morning Solid Gold by Francois St Juste, and I opened the mic for the first time. A little nerve wracking, but it was a feeling of accomplishment.
G: Have you been faced with negative remarks?
D: Yeah, but it comes with the territory I guess. I like criticism, good or bad; it can only make me better at what I do.
G: If not radio, what would you be doing?
D: I would be in advertising (computer graphics) - up to my neck in work.
G: What is your favourite show (local or international)?
D: 24 on FOX. It mad! Trust mi.
G: If you could meet any one person, who would he/she be?
D: Boy, never really gave this much thought enuh.
G: Who are your favourite media personalities (local or international)?
D: This is quite a tough question. I wouldn't say I have a favourite media personality; all the people I listen to bring something different to the table, so its hard to pick a favourite. I like variety.
G: What turns you off about people?
D: I get turned off by people who are constantly negative.
G: What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about you?
D: I like interior decorating ideas. I would sit and watch HGTV for hours.
