Splendid strikes

Waterhouse's Irvino English ... struck five goals on Sunday to be the league's leading scorer.- file

A SUPERB effort by midfielder Irvino English saw him slam in all of five goals as dethroned champions Waterhouse trampled relegated Wadadah 9-2 in Premier League action on Sunday.

The feast of goals not only gave the hungry Drewsland fans plenty to cheer about but also made English the league's top scorer in a performance worthy of being named The Gleaner Performer of the Week.

The five goals by the 29-year-old English are the most scored in any game this season by a single player.

Goals

The goals, which came in the 32nd, 44th, 59th, 74th and 83rd minutes, sawEnglish, who began the day four goals off the top spot, take over as front-runner for the league's Golden Boot award. The lanky midfielder, who has scored several timely goals for Waterhouse this season, then went on to strengthen his position as the league's top marksman by netting in his team's 3-2 loss to August Town at Barbican midweek.

With just one game left, English sits atop the table with 17 goals but is hotly pursued by Harbour View strikers Kavin Bryan, who is a goal behind on 16, and Fabian Taylor, who is in third place with 15.

Harbour View play their final game against Reno on Sunday while Waterhouse will take on Boys' Town.
